Honolulu has a reputation for being an expensive travel destination, but luckily there are some hidden gems with amazing happy hour specials to take advantage of!
Whether you’re looking for a rooftop bar with a view or a tiki lounge by the beach, we’ve got you covered with the best can’t miss happy hour locations.
Honolulu has one the best food scenes out of all the Hawaiian Islands. Luckily, the majority of these restaurants participate in happy hour.
We’ve compiled a list of our can’t miss happy hour spots with the delicious food, amazing drink deals, and best views!
1) Deck
Happy Hour Times: 2pm-4pm (and cocktail specials Monday-Friday)
Website: www.deckwaikiki.com
Located in Queen Kapiolano Hotel, Deck features unbeatable views of Diamond head. The view alone is worth paying Deck a visit, but luckily they also have amazing food and some of the best cocktails we’ve had in Honolulu.
The majority of their ingredients are locally sourced from farms or local distilleries so everything is super fresh and flavorful. One of our favorites was the “Staycation” cocktail made with pineapple infused Pau Vodka, butterfly pea tea infused Koloa coconut rum, lemongrass syrup, lemon juice, and egg whites.
They have a general happy hour menu every day from 2pm-4pm, but they also have a a special discount on select cocktails from Monday-Friday such as $10 mai tais on Mondays and $10 margaritas on Tuesdays.
2) Shorefyre
Hours: 4pm-6pm, all day Tuesday
Website: www.shorefyre.com
Shorefyre offers laid back island vibes and is the perfect restaurant after a day at the beach. The music and beach decor creates the perfect atmosphere.
The happy hour food menu isn’t super extensive, but has some great choices such as hibachi chicken, watermelon poke, and fried brussel sprouts.
One of our favorite drinks to get there is the coconut mojito, but they also have some great Hawaiian beer options on their happy hour menu also!
There are two locations in Waikiki, but we recommend the Koa Ave location!
3) Zigu
Hours: 4pm-6pm
Website: www.zigu.us
Honolulu is home to so many Japanese restaurants and Zigu is one of our favorites! In 2019, this restaurant was a finalist for the 2019 Hale ‘Aina Awards Best New Restaurant- Readers Choice.
We love the variety of the happy hour menu with some of our favorite dishes being the local farm red skin sweet potatoe salad, mochiko fried chicken, and sauteed big island ginger pork.
They also have great deals on drinks during happy hour such as $6 sake and $5.5 kirin ichban draft.
4) Doraku Waikiki
Hours: Monday-Friday 4pm-5pm
Website: www.dorakusushi.com
If sushi is what you’re craving, a great option to check out is Doraku Waikiki.
They have both hot and cold options on their happy hour menu so there is something for everyone even if you don’t like sushi. Some of the hot food options are eggplant miso, king oyster mushrooms, and chicken kaarage. Their cold options include tuna tataki, california hand roll, and snow crab cali hand roll to name a few.
The only downside to this happy hour is the short one hour window so be sure to get there right at 4pm!
5) Signature Prime Steakhouse
Hours: 4:30pm-6:30pm
Website: www.signatureprimesteak.com
This is the most extensive happy hour menu that we came across and every single dish we tried was delicious! Located at the top of the Ala Moana hotel, you can get here in about 10 minutes by bus from the Waikiki area or in even less time by uber.
The menu has a huge variety with dishes such as steak tartar, fresh fish tacos, New Zealand smoked king salmon spread, and macaroni and cheese. The happy hour takes place in the lounge area so don’t make our mistake by getting seating in the dining area.
6) Chez Kenzo Bar And Grill
Hours: 5pm-7pm
Website: www.chezkenzo.net
Chez Kenzo has one of favorite happy hours in Honolulu! Every single dish we tried was delicious and not a single one disappointed.
This is a local favorite known for their delicious food and super cheap drinks. From the happy hour menu, we recommend the sizzling omurice and ginger pork, but we also strongly reccomend the uni pasta from the regular menu.
The drink deals are amazing with a large variety of cocktails for $7 each and sake shots for $3. Located just outside of Waikiki, you can get there by bus or car, and parking is readily available right outside.
